Description

Name : Brighton Augus
Age : 19 [Birthday is November 8th.]
Height : 5'9"
Weight : Average, Athletic (Dunno how much this should be.)
Race : Demigod
Sex : Male
God-parent : Poseidon
Mortal Parents : Oliva Augus and Jose Augus

Powers : Water Heal - By standing in water, Brighton can heal himself and regain energy and focus. Since he's just starting out, it's limited to small cuts and bruises and a small boost in stamina. Once he steps out of the water, the regeneration effect stops, and it will only start up again if he steps back into the water.

Weapon :

Mist Form - A pair of false gauge, orange fang earrings. Unfortunately for Brighton, these are somewhat difficult to remove in a pinch, so while he is never anywhere without the, he sometimes keeps them tucked away into his pocket instead of on his ears, especially when he knows that he plans on using his gauntlets.

Non-Mist Form - A pair of sturdy gauntlets attached to his forearms that serve both as grappling claw shots as well as chained harpoons. There are levers within the guantlets that his hands wrap around and depending on the buttons he presses or the motion on his wrist has different effects on the harpoon. One motion opens and closes the claws, another launches the harpoon from the gauntlet, and the last retracts the chain back into the forearm. There is no way to release the chain from the gauntlet however, so if he becomes tethered, he must either deactivate the weapon entirely, or go along for the ride.

Personality : To understand Brighton, one must understand that he is two halves to one whole. Part of him is a shy, insecure man who struggles with his social footing, uncertain of where or who he wants to be in his own society. This part of him is largely influenced by his mother. She is a meek woman, but she supports her son and cherishes him dearly. She is constantly trying to steer him to make decisions based off his own heart's desires, but though he appreciates her encouragement, he finds it difficult to accept it thanks to his other nature.

The other part of Brighton, influenced by his harsh, cruel father, is a very repressed, internally violent creature. Striving to make his father proud, to be the tough, manly son that Mr. Augus yearns for, he constantly smothers the part of himself that his mother nurtures, making him better and resentful. He yearns to unify both halves, but as it is now, they are at war with one another, making him a very conflicted, confused child.

Flaw : Wrath Though Brighton is by no means usually a violent person, he is easily offended, and should one provoke him for long enough, he is even quicker to action. When enraged, Brighton is an act now, think later type of man, and this often gets him in trouble, especially at school where he is constantly sent home from classes from getting into fights. It is hard to control him in this state, as he loses himself to his aggression, and must almost always be forcibly stopped.

Background : For newlywed couple Oliva Augus and Jose Augus, the news of a child should have been a joyous occasion, but though her husband beamed with pride, Oliva could not share in his enthusiasm, for her joy was dampened by the thought of a dark secret she had kept to herself. Having spent their honeymoon on a small cruise ship to the caribbean, Jose assumed the child to be a product of his and Oliva's many unions that evening, but there was one event she had failed to mention to him. While he lay sleeping in their cabin, she had snuck away to the front of the ship, if only to enjoy the soft light of the moon against the waves, when a slip of her foot brought her overboard.

Tossed about in the waters, she feared she might drown, or worse; be lost at sea forever, but she was rescued by a powerful god. He offered to rescue her, but at the cost of one night in his arms, for Olivia at the time was a beautiful dark-skinned beauty that Poseidon simply could not resist, no matter what he'd agreed to. She accepted, and once they'd finished, he delivered her back onto the deck, unscathed as promised. Her husband was oblivious to her absence, and Oliva thought it best not to mention this to anyone.

However, when the child was born, a young boy of strawberry blonde hair and bright blue eyes, it was clear to all that this boy was not the product of his mother and her supposed husband. Furious over this, but not enough to leave his wife after her explanation, Jose instead turned his aggression to his "son", who he regarded with a sense of loathing and irritation.

He raised Brighton as a boy, but not as his son, and ever since he was little, Brighton has tried his hardest to earn his father's love and respect. No matter how hard he tries, however, Jose sees him as nothing more than a failure, and is often eager to tell Brighton that even if he WERE his real son, he would still not love him as he wants to be. Jose wanted a man for a son, someone tough, brash, and harsh like him, but under the guidance of his mother, and the alientation of his father, Brighton is a disturbing blend of gentleness simmering with rage.

His mother waited until he was eighteen to tell him of his origin, and she encouraged him to leave his own home and go to Camp Half-Blood, so that he could embrace his own nature and accept himself for who he is.

Other Info : When Brighton was sixteen, he thought to get a tattoo to make himself more fierce, and though his mother frowned at the idea, she decided to allow him to go through with this so long as she was able to choose the design. Thanks to her, he has a trident tattooed onto the back of his neck, though he didn't understand why she chose this particular design until she told him who his real father was.

Also, he blushes.

A lot.

Much to his dismay. |D

POWERS

~ Water Healing ~

***For all of the following levels, even to the maximum of this power, Brighton must be in contact with some form of water for the entire duration of the healing process. Also, each healing process drains his ability to perform this skill again for a certain amount of time, meaning that for each time he heals himself or someone else, he must wait to regain his energy (anywhere between 1 and 24 hours) before he is able to use this skill again.***

Level 1 - So long as some part of Brighton's body is in contact with some type of water, Brighton has the ability to heal only external small cuts and minor abrasions on his body alone.

Level 2 - At this level, he has progressed to being able to heal larger lacerations and larger, sub-dermal bruises on his own body.

Level 3 - Now that he's grown a little bit more, he's expanded this power to allow himself to heal major injuries and lacerations on his own form, excluding broken bones or lost limbs. He's able to replenish lost blood faster, but again the process wears him out.

Level 4 - Finally here Brighton has the ability to heal and mend broken bones, as well as to heal major internal wounds on and within his own body.

Level 5 - At maxed power, Brighton can regenerate lost limbs with prolonged contact with water, and essentially revive himself from a close-to-death moment if thrown in water. He also has the ability to use all of his former levels' strengths (levels 1 through 4) to heal one other person, but again, it wears him out, and he must choose between healing himself or another individual.

~ Water Familiars ~

***As with the last skill, for the skill listed below Brighton must have a water source large enough to support his bigger familiars, and can only generate creatures akin to the amount of water he has. Similarly, the amount or size of the beast is likened to the energy it takes for him to maintain it. For example, at a higher level, Brighton can maintain one familiar for long periods of time, but the larger or more numerous the familiars are, the shorter he can maintain them.***

Level 5 - At this level, Brighton can generate a water familiar, usually in the shape of a horse of some sort, so long as he has an appropriate source of water.. He can increase or decrease the surface tension of this familiar at will, allowing him to ride it for short periods of time.

Level 6 - Brighton can now generate two familiars in the same manner as before. Again, he prefers to stay with the familiar shape of a horse, though he is starting to dapple with other shapes now. As with before, he can increase surface tension in these beasts for a longer period than before, allowing more than one person to ride at a time.

Level 7 - As he's developed a better mastery of this skill, he has doubled the number of familiars since the last level, able to produce four familiars of any shape he can imagine. He is still able to create more surface tension in them and he can using the movement of the water to have them create sounds that mimic the animals they represent.

Level 8 - Again, the number has doubled, bringing his count to eight familiars. These all have the same properties as before, but enhanced. For example, the sounds the familiars can make are now more true to life, though they still sound more like watery echoes of the ones they represent.

Level 9 - At sixteen familiars, Brighton can either create individual water beasts, or one large water beast, and as before, his ability to manipulate the surface tension has not changed. He is now in complete control of the familiar and can maintain their shapes and forms by second nature. He has become more creative with the shapes, however, and can create watery dopple-gangers of himself. He has mastered their ability to "speak" as well, and though the sound will always be like an echo, it is clear enough that the words are easily understood.

Level 10 - With this ability maxed, the number of familiars he can create is large given his current energy and the available source, but unlike before, these beasts are no longer fully dependent on Brighton as a cohesive unit. Having developed this ability well enough, he can now give each familiar a unique, specific order that they will carry out, independent of his own thinking. He must lay out the order task at a time, however, and the order must be detailed. They are not capable of problem-solving on their own. He uses this primarily during fights, and also to send human water familiar forth as messengers.
