Description

Name: "Charis Zahn", though he is known to most as "Paradise."

Age: 25

Sex: Male

Animus/Anima: Six-Wired Lost Bird of Paradise

Rank: Requesting to be a tamer

Alignment: Corrupted

Personality: Well-mannered and polite, even to his enemies, Paradise has an aloof, whimsical sort of personality, and is the kind of individual who speaks with an even and smooth, gentle tone that seems only to heighten in pitch during his rare moments of glee or aggression. Everything he does, from his words to his movements, is done with an effortless elegance that mimics the slow, light flow of his garments (which he has constructed himself).

He rarely raises his voice, or succumbs to anger, but despite all his charm and seemingly friendly attributes, Paradise is a cruel man, willing to cause great harm to another without hesitation.

Background: The son of a Hunter and a Seamstress, Paradise was born into a family based on pride and beauty, so it was no coincidence that the shaman placed upon him the animal spirit of a six-wired, lost bird of paradise. Not wanting to mar the gift of his beauty, his parents chose to raise him as an artist. Following in his mother's footsteps, he learned how to fashion intricate garments from the fine fabrics of their region, while also taking an interest in theatrical make-up and performing.

At nineteen, however, his father was called away to deal with a dangerous fera that had appeared near their village's edge. His father had been summoned many times to combat against such beasts, and had returned triumphantly after each battle, but there was something about this fera, a corrupted grizzly bear, that made his stomach churn. Fearing for his father's life, he left his home against his mother's wishes to beg for his return, but what he found was that the battle had already begun...and ended. His father was dead at the creature's feet in a pool of dark blood, mauled to the point of nonrecognition while the beast tore its jaws through his flesh and bone. He was horrified at the gruesome sight, but his anger overcame his fear. Taking his half-form, he went after the Fera, but the fight was short-lived. Pressing him into the ground, it tore his wings from his back, and it might have killed him had the rest of the villages hunters not arrived a moment later.

He survived, but the catastrophe had ruined his mother forever. Grief-stricken, she became obsessed with trying to perfect her son, but she never could quite get over his flawed wings, and it eventually got to the point where Paradise no longer felt as though her were her son, but rather a project that ultimately was a permanent disappointment for her. They moved to Letium and when he turned twenty-two, his mother was found drifting face-down in a river. The locals explained it off as being an accident, but Paradise knew that the woman had killed herself.

Now free from his obligations, he left the village to lose himself in the marshes. After years of being reminded of the disgrace his flawed, tattered and flightless wings bestowed upon him, he found that he could think of little else other than wishing somehow he could make them whole again, or at the very least, he could once again take joy in flight. He felt that had he not been marred, his mother might have survived.

It was then that Letos appeared to him in the murky reflection of the swamp's water beneath his feet. The god offered a trade in favor of Paradise's services, and Paradise accepted, requesting a new pair of wings to replace the ones he had lost.

Fighting: Paradise is an artist, not a fighter, and as such, he uses his abilities to tame Fera as his main defense. It is said that he has taken an obsession with collecting the corrupted crows of the Aria region, and it is rare to see him without the large murder of dark birds circling overhead or watching from the trees. Aside from protection, he uses the birds to spy on the villages to gather information about the Hunters there, learning about their animal spirits so that he can tame a creature that would be most suited for combat against them before he chooses to attack, if he is planning to do so.

Paradise usually only attacks for a few reasons; either he or his god have been threatened, or he is seeking information about Letos's imprisoned soul. Otherwise, he tends to keep from the villages, preferring solitude.
