Though at first glance these animals appear to be a 'race' of people, they are more like animals than individuals, and many have made the mistake of attempting to communicate with them. They are not civilized, and thus far, every attempt to civilize them has failed. The Cere, for all intensive purposes, is a Siren, a species of beautiful fish that lure their prey to them by skimming their shimmering bodies just under the surface of the water, which makes them sparkle in the light. They have humanoid upper bodies, but their torsos are longer, thinner, and sleeker than that of the land beings they imitate. They have two pairs of long, lean arms lined with fins that end in webbed, spiny fingers. Their heads bear human-like faces, with naturally frowning lips that are drawn over their sharp, shark-like teeth, and they have wide, almond-shaped eyes that come in every color of the rainbow and are known to be quite hypnotic. Their bodies are dark toned and spotted, and they are flecked with bio-luminescent rows of stripes that streak across their chests, arms, and tails. Their tails are like eel tails, long and slender, and they have no flippers, just shark-like fins lining the backs. They are devious and tricky, living in families up to fifteen. They are known for luring in land creatures with their highly reflective scales before lurching up and dragging their prey into the water. once the animal has drowned, they rip it to pieces like piranhas do. They live on rocky coasts and prefer the darkness of caves and shadows when resting. Because of their bio-luminescent stripes, they are captivating in both day and night, and wherever they live can be seen as a dangerous area for any activity that brings one close to the water.
